Mount Zion

Mount Zion today is the location of King David's Tomb and the Upper Room, but in the biblical periods, Mount Zion was the name of the hill on the other side of town where the temple stood. The name moved after the 1st century to the city's Western Hill. This area was home to the wealthy during Jesus' lifetime and may have been the location of Caiaphas' home where Jesus was put on trial. Today the summit is crowned by Dormition Abbey.
