－ラインホールド・ニーバーによる宗教改革思想の捉え方－

　本論は，ラインホールド・ニーバーが彼の著作『人間の本性と運命』の中で宗教改革の思想をどのように解釈しているかを詳述したものである．ニーバーの解釈を通じて，キリスト者ではない人にとっては同じものとして捉えられる宗教改革の思想にも，ルターの思想とカルヴァンのものとでは違いがあることを明らかにすることを狙いとしている．ニーバーに依ると，ルターの思想は神の恵みの中での赦しを強調するために，行動のないことの義に退化するところがあり，カルヴァンの思想は，律法に厳密に従うこととして罪の浄化を捉えるという特徴がある，と述べている．キリスト教が今日でも関連性を持つためには，両者の思想とルネサンス思想を統合することである，としている．
This paper deals with Reinhold Niebuhr,s description about the Reformation in his famous book, The Nature and Destiny of Man. As the Reformation seems to be consisted of one single thought for non-Christian people, it may be useful to show how Niebuhr describes the Reformation in detail, especially his ways of understanding Luther and Calvin. According to Niebuhr, Luther emphasizes forgiveness in grace and lapses into mystic doctrines of passivity, while Calvin thinks of sanction as a rigorous obedience to law. Niebuhr insists that the Christian faith can have relevance to contemporary culture if Christianity can have a synthesis of the Reformation and the Renaissance.
